The Georgia CU Office Administration Council met on May 25, 2006.
The Council Members discussed various topics for future meetings. Lunch was served by two distinguished CEOs (see photos).
The featured speakers for the meeting were Laura Beasley, Pitney Bowes, Inc. and Matt Meyer, PSI Group, Inc.
U.S. Postal Service’s plan for secure meter technology was presented by Ms. Beasley. By 12/31/06, non-enhanced letterpress meters will be removed from service to be replaced with IBI (Information Based Indicia) technology. IBI technology employs encryption and digital signature to ensure postal integrity and security of mailer’s funds. In addition, the technology uses a two-dimensional barcode to encode security and mail processing information.

Matt Meyer from PSI Group, Inc., the largest outsourced provider of mail presort services in the United States, outlined the advantages of utilizing PSI for presorting. Postal rates are scheduled to go up in 2007…it is anticipated that first class postage will increase to $.42. Flats (9 x 12 envelopes, for example) will increase to $.62 for the first ounce…effectively punishing the consumer for using this size envelope over a #10 envelope.
